Copyright and Research History 

This research was first published by the Society for Creative Anachronism as "Creative
Anachronist #70: The World's Oldest Dance" in 1993.  That version is owned by them and can
still be ordered by contacting their organization.

It was completely rewritten and revised in December 2000 with all new illustrations and
submitted for publication to Backbeat Press.  They subsequently used the title (with permission)
in their new publication "Bellydance: Rediscovering the World's Oldest Dance" which is
available from them. 

This is the complete revised version as I intended it to appear, representing the many things
which I learned since the first version appeared.
