COIN ANKLET
This one is exactly like the ruffle version except that it's made with
coins.
Level: Beginner
Hook: B
Thread: #10 Crochet Cotton (not metallic crosheen)
Setup: measure 1/8" round elastic gold or silver and knot to size.
Gauge: approx 2 rectangles per inch (1 coin each)
1 rectangle = (dc, sk 1 sc, ch4, pass coin)
How to calculate:
# of rectangles/coins ____ multiplied by 2 = ___# of sc you need to put
on for setup OR
# of sc ___divided by 2 = # of rectangles/# of coins needed
For size calculations use the largest size as it passes over your foot.
Figuring on a 9" circle of elastic should fit most feet. If you don't
want to worry about size calculations, feed on about 25 coins and sc as
many as needed. The gauge is not critical since the piece stretches, and
having them crowded with make for a nice jingly anklet.
To start: pre-feed a sufficient quantity of coins onto your string. There
is no penalty for putting on too many coins, or for having to cut the
string, add more coins, and pick up where you left off.
Important: Carefully control the coins, keeping them grouped together.
If you pick up the string and it spins, you may have to cut the string
and start over. It helps to lay this project out on a tray or pillow.
R1: sc around as many as needed
R2: (dc, sk1 sc, ch, pass coin thru, ch 2) as many times as needed.
You may also use any large beads or jewelry you happen to have that will
fit over the string.
